Aid
The created action plan allows the mentee to clearly define the specific personal goals they want to achieve. Some are achievable already during the mentoring process, others may have a longer time horizon. For each of these goals, the mentee determines:
Supporters: People who can provide support, advice or help in achieving a goal (eg mentor, peers, experts).
Activities: Specific steps and activities that will be undertaken to achieve the stated goal.
Skills to be fostered: Specific personal or professional skills that will be developed through the activities, helping the mentee to grow professionally.
From-to deadline: A time frame for each objective that specifies when the achievement of that objective should begin and be completed.
Costs: Estimated expenses associated with the implementation of individual activities (e.g. training costs).
Activity status: Continuous control and monitoring of the stage in which individual activities are and whether the objectives have been met (e.g. planned / started / partially met / fulfilled).
An action plan helps the mentee keep track of their goals, plan their activities, and effectively track their progress in professional development.
Tip: Date with a plan
Even if you don't have a mentor, make a monthly "date" with your action plan - reassess, revise and pat yourself on the back for what you've already accomplished, because just like in life, a plan you don't keep , will not fill itself!
